 Acarbose (Glucobay) stabilizes blood sugar levels and supresses appetite
Acarbose (Glucobay) is used (with diet only or diet and other medications) to treat type 2 (noninsulin-dependent) diabetes. Acarbose (Glucobay) works by slowing the action of certain chemicals that break down food to release glucose (sugar) into your blood. Slowing food digestion helps keep the blood glucose from rising very high after meals
It is believed that strict sugar control in diabetics decreases the risk of eye, kidney and nerve damage. Alpha-glucosidase inhibitors are used to help lower blood sugar levels that are not controlled by diet and exercise. Acarbose can be used alone to treat type II diabetes or can be combined with sulfonylureas such as glyburide (Diabeta) or metformin (Glucophage) or with insulin. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

As we become older our bodies produce more insulin to combat the higher levels of blood sugar (see graph showing increased insulin release with age). Using Acarbose to reduce the amount of sugar the body produces will in turn reduce the levels of insulin produced. For this same reason, Acarbose is often used in the treatment of diabetes.
Dosage: For anti-aging and appetite suppression, take one 50mg Acarbose tablet once, twice or three times daily. The tablets should be chewed and swallowed prior to a meal or with the first mouthful of food.
Safety: Flatulence, diarrhoea and abdominal pain have been noted in rare cases with initial use. If this occurs reduce (or stop) the dosage then gradually increase and these problems should disappear.
Do not use Acarbose if you have any liver or kidney conditions. Avoid use if you suffer from intestinal, inflammation or ulceration disorders and seek the advice of your physician before use if you are diabetic.
Persons taking prescription medication and pregnant or lactating women should consult a physician before using this product. Long-term use of this product should be supervised and monitored by a health care professional.
